AN OVERVIEW OF ACADEMIC SUCCESS

In the previous post, we have defined success and explained what success is about. Moreover, we have to take a look into academic success so that we will not navigate away from our central theme – THE HIGHWAY OF ACADEMIC SUCCESS.

Simply put, academic success is being excellent in school. It means to be on top of the class. To be less concise, academic success entails continuous effort to remain the best or one of the best among one’s colleagues at school. The effort must be continuous so as to remain the best.

To be sincere, the most respected people in school are those with excellent academic records. They are more respected than students from a rich background. They are placed on higher priority than any other set of students. Even in some schools, they are given special treatment such as special food, special hostel, special class etc. Why? The answer is not far fetched, it is simply because they are special. Academic success is sweet. It makes you special.

Don’t let anyone discourage you from chasing after academic success. It is very admirable and adorable. You discover that those who discourage you are nowhere to be found at the top. Please, chase after academic success. As a successful student, your words will be respected and your opinions will be put in high priority. Most of the alumni of a school who are easily recognized are the successful ones. Teachers do not rack their brains in order to remember the names of excellent students. Now, I believe your eyes are open.

However, to be in this class of students, it just takes you. It is not your teacher’s problem, it is your own business. Like I have previously said, it only takes your interest. Interest is different from wish. According to a common saying, if wishes were horses, beggars would ride. It is everyone’s wish to be at the top but not all are interested. Wish backed up with determination and dedication is what gives interest.

Daniel purposed in his heart not to defile himself. Daniel 1:8. He was ready to die for what he was determined to do. He said to himself, ‘I will not defile myself, even if it means I should stay hungry for days or I should die’. His resolve was firm! That is what is called interest. Now ask yourself, ‘Is success a wish to me or an interest?’

I won’t want to dive off course, we are on academic success. I believe if you put everything supplied here, as we move further, to use, you will meet yourself at the top in every area of your life. Academic success is for interested students. 9 A1s are for interested students. 400/400 in UTME/JAMB is for interested students.

To conclude this chapter, I believe you can be successful. Do you believe so? You can be on top. The one on top is also human. He is not an angel.
